WHERE ARE THE APOSTLES?
This past week the media has been in an uproar regarding the remarks from Duck Dynasty’s star, Phil Robinson. I took the time this week to actually read the article in an attempt to ascertain what all the concern was about that caused the A&E Network to suspend him.
The entire issue was brought about by his recently published interview with GQ magazine. As he attempted to quote scripture (actually I Cor. 6:9) he mentions how fornicators, adulterers and homosexuals will have no inheritance in the Kingdom of God. The innocence of his quote is clear given he places emphasis that all of these are sins. It’s apparent that the largest influence in the media is the LGBT network. How dare he or any other individual refer to homosexuality and the acts there of, as sinful.
It’s amazing at how far we have gone to the left with regard to morality in our nation. The Bible, which many Christians believe represents the truth and what used to be the foundation of our culture is no longer consider as such. Our culture now recognizes right and wrong based on public option.
As I have listened to the news recently, no prominent Christian leader has taken a stand to support this good ole country boy from Louisiana. Contrary to what some say, the truth must be defended. Apostolic Ministry is anointed to defend the Church against heresy and false doctrine. Apostles will often teach or preach POLEMICALLY.
Polemic means an aggressive attack on or refutation of the opinions or principles of another; the art of practice of disputation or controversy. It is from the Greek polemikos meaning war-like or hostile. Where are the Apostles?
The reformers of the sixteenth century aggressively attacked the error and hypocrisy of the established church. They also defended the truth of the gospel against those who attacked their teachings. Their major concern was that the truth be preached and taught at any cost. They would die for the truth. To them, the only thing that mattered was the truth.
The early Apostles recognized that the truth must not be only be preached, but defended. If men don’t defend the truth, lies will prevail. If lies prevail, people will walk in bondage and deception. This is why the Church needs the ministry of the apostle. Apostles have an anointing to defend and confirm the truth. They walk in boldness and proclaim the truth in spite of persecution and opposition.
In this day and time we have so many self made Apostles without having a clue regarding the responsibility of this position. So I ask once again, where are the apostles in our culture today? The silent of our Christian leaders in the midst of the current and coming persecution of the western church is indeed deafening.
